1933. What a drip

As they honeymooned at The Mirage
Mrs. Trickle endured a barrage
For there in their room
The car-racing groom
Kept driving into her garage.

My all-time favorite sports-world name belonged to NASCAR's Dick Trickle.  Click here for more.   (Since the last one listed played 1st base, surely his nickname was 'Stretch!'

  1. Your epilogue refers to Chicago Cub and Kansas City Royal Pete LaCock who played in the majors from 1972 to 1980. But his famous father is Ralph Pierre LaCock, better known as Peter Marshall, the TV game show host of "The Hollywood Squares" from 1966 to 1981.
Pete LaCock also collected the final hit allowed by Hall of Fame pitcher Bob Gibson--a grand slam home run on September 3, 1975. "How about that!"

  2. Fans of western movies will remember Peter Marshall's sister, (and therefore Pete's aunt) Joanne Dru. She was in "Red River" and "She Wore a Yellow Ribbon" among others.

  3. I'll bet Joanne Dru couldn't act fast enough to lose her birth surname. Let's hope her given name wasn't something like "Ivanna," or worse, "Isak." She would have said, "How can I get out of afrikan family like this?"
