A fellow from near Sacramento
For lunch eats the cheese with pimiento.
He shouldn't get dressy
'Cause he is so messy
His shirts then display a memento.
A local TV anchor mispronounced the final word as momento last night. Not a mementous occasion! See comment for what I emailed her.
I emailed the anchor this:
ReplyDeletePlease learn to say mementos -- not momentos. You've mispronounced it twice in the past two weeks. Think 'MEMories' and you shouldn't have trouble. And while you're at it (along with virtually every other broadcaster on KOTV), please try making it through a newscast without starting ANY sentences with 'Now,..' or 'Well,..' Just get to the subject matter minus either of those obvious crutches.
You are otherwise quite professional and I suspect someone in a directorial position wants these folksy lead-ins used. Please tell him/her we are big boys and girls out here in TV land and don’t need to be coddled.
